Last night was the last tournament of the year for the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament series.  There were forty-four (42) teams qualifying for the year end "fish-off " for the championship and bragging rights.  It was also the 18th. year for the tournament series and the participation was outstanding, reminiscent of the earlier years when gas prices were reasonable and the dollar was worth a dollar.

The bite was good last night, however in order to get a decent keeeper you had to ignore the thirteen and fourteen inch bass that were very bothersome, but better to get bit by shorts than no bite at all.  Some of the anglers said they didn't have a keeper until dark and some said they caught a keeper or two at their first stop.  The extra hour and a half of tournament hours helped some and wasn't much help for others.

According to the anglers their best bite came on worms, jigs, brush hogs and crank baits, eight to fifteen feet.  There were seven limits weighed with twelve largemouth weighing four pounds or better and two largemouth weighing five pounds or better.

The winners of the "Fish-Off" were Frankie Carroll and Delbert Shepherd who brought a four fish limit to the scales weighing 14.83 pounds.  Their big bass weighed an even 5 pounds.

Second place was claimed by brothers, Eric and Troy Wiethop, who brought four largemouth to the scales weighing 13.39 pounds.  Their big bass weighed 5.23 pounds for Big Bass of the tournament.

Third place went to Dan Swan and Harry Litsey with a four fish limit weighing 13.14 pounds.  Their big bass weighed 4.36 pounds.

Fourth place was claimed by Jeff Beachump and Richard Sansom who had four fish weighing 12.98 pounds.  Third big bass weighed 4.89 pounds.

Fifth place went to Joe Gan and Ricky Zigenbein who brought a limit to the scales weighing 11.96 pounds.  Their big bass weighed an even 4.0 pounds.

6th.     Kyle Meyer & Zach Bachtel           11.89 lbs.

7th.     Bill & Josh Swineberg                     11.86 lbs.

8th.     Bob Bueltmann & Bob Renkn         11.57 lbs.

9th.     Gary Shultz & Scott Melton             11.29. lbs.

10th.   Dave Phelps & Ken Hunt                 10.58 lbs.

After the weigh-in the anglers were treated to a fantastic meal provided by Bandana's Restaurant and Nancy's Cakes (Cook).  In addition, thanks to Marty's Marine, Bass Cat Boats, Osage Beach Bait & Tackle, Fitz's Tackle & Supply's, Big O Tires and Bassing Bob.com.

Thanks to all the anglers who fished the 2016 tournaments, Lou Torrence, Kathy Swan, Ray Mosley and Don Wisdom who worked to make the Missouri Angler Wednesday Night Tournament a success.
