Even
without much generation Branson Fishing Guides continue to catch numbers and
quality trout on Lake Taneycomo. The best bite has been from Cooper Creek
through downtown Branson; fishing guides continue to have success on 1/16oz Zig
Jigs around boat docks and other cover early and late. Keeping the jig close to
the cover is key to success; most of the bites have been coming as the jig
falls so an erratic retrieve allowing the jig to fall multiple times is crucial
to drawing strikes. Casting small jerkbaits have been another very good technique
for better fish early in the day, Rapala, Lucky Craft and Yo-Zuri lures have
all been effective, 1 ½” – 2” models in realistic finishes have been best for
Branson fishing guides. A brown or black Trout Magnet fished below a float has
been working as the sun comes up over the hill. The less action you impart on
the bait the batter allow current or mind to move the bait around and give it very
subtle twitches to draw strikes. Once mid-day arrives most Branson fishing
guides will switch to a drift rig and use different combinations of baits to
keep the trout biting. Gulp and Power Bait eggs have been one of the best
options, mixing color combinations until one is found that the trout can’t
resist. Live night crawlers are another option; usually ½ of a crawler is sufficient
to get bit and injecting a small amount of air in the crawler to keep it off
the bottom will result in more strikes. Finally, a Branson fishing guide trick
for no current days is to use half a night crawler on a weight less hook. Tie a
#10 hook on a six foot two pound fluorocarbon leader on a swivel and allow the
weight of the hook and swivel to sink the bait. If the bait isn’t sinking add
no more than one BB shot to the line to get it to sink. Despite the hot weather
and limited generation Branson fishing guides continue to catch numbers and
quality on Lake Taneycomo.
