Got out on Thousand Hills for some afternoon fishing yesterday. It started out kinda slow as I looked for a shallow bite in the muddy water. I fished a lot of shallow grass and really didn't have a whole lot of luck doing that. I got off the banks some and started working a big football jig 3/4 oz Thunderstruck Jig in blk yellow and one in electric blue. I was using a Sweet Beaver in trauma as my trailer. When I would come to main lake points at the mouths of pockets I would start catching them in about 7 to 8 feet of water. I managed to get a limit of keepers with a couple of 3lbers in the mix once I started fishing deeper. I thought with the muddy water the fish would have moved into the grass more but it seems like they were suspending off the bank a lot. A lot of the fish I caught on the jig I stuck while I was reeling it in to make another cast or on the initial cast. It seemed like they were just favoring the jig because of its big profile in the muddy water. I did manage to catch a bass on a square bill on the initial cast after it landed on the water. I fished back in some pockets and arms off the main lake and found a good amount of bait back in them but couldn't get a bite in those areas. Maybe in a day or two they will be there or I just didn't hit it at the right time. Seems like the lakes water level is returning back to where it was before we got hit with a ton of rain over the weekend. Keep it reel.
