A 6am to 12pm tournament provided some fun for Saturday, July the 10th at Indian Creek Lake with a 7mph southwest wind providing some relief from a 90 degree day. Anglers reported having several chances to catch fish with three honorable keepers being caught. Water temperature was 80 to 83 during the day with a stained green color which is normally very clear and possibly mucked up from the persistant rainfall for this year.
A first place 8.41# bag limit was caught by the team of Marty Rucker and Jason Skipper. They reported having a good short fish bite and the unexpected 5.37# bite that Jason had while taking a break. The pair fished around rip rap on the dam and on the flats most fish were caught around the 7ft. range with a Texas rigged worm. Jason caught the big bass of the day with 5.37# on a brown colored Texas worm at 9:30 on his Pflueger combo lined with 14# Stren. Jason commented his favorite pro angler is Bill Dance.
The second place winner Kenny Roberts brought in a 7.36# bag with a very good 4.53# kicker fish. Kenny fished main lake points with having some good bites in 10ft-12ft of water around the timber. Kenny was using a Texas rigged worm making long casts to cover lots of water with his Daiwa reel mounted on his Shakespeare rod with 14# Mustad line. Kenny admitted his favorite angler is Sheet Reese.
Coming in third place was the team of Joel Ford and Shane Wyant with a 6.82 bag. With a good 4.94# kicker fish being caught at 7:00am in 2-3ft of water around lay downs and timber flippin a blue crawdad. The 4.94# fish was reported being in ambush mode for a morning snack and hit the blue craw which was tied to Shane's BPS rod and reel combo using BPS XPS 17# flourocarbon.
The sixteen boat field reported a very good bite for the day with the sun providing plenty of heat and the fish helped keeping everyone interested. The pre-fishing report was not very promising so the outcome for the day was very good.
