The Omega Jig does it again

Jan 8 was my first time out on the water for the new year and it went awesome. Some friends and I loaded up the boat and took off. Starting out was a bit chilly with temps in the low 20 and wind howling around 15 to 20 mph, but that didnt stop the fish from biting. We put in at Coffman Beach Ramp around 8:00 with the water being clear and temps around the upper 30's lower 40's we headed out to are first spot. It was a couple of main lake brush piles, just around the corner from the ramp. We pulled up and started throwing stickbaits, the first couple of cast my buddy hooks in to a solid 3 pounder right under the boat. One keeper down and a nice way to start the new year. We then fished about three more main lake brush piles with no luck. We moved on to a cove and started working the last secondary point. I put the stickbait down and started working a 3/8 oz Omega Custom Tackle Shakey Foot with a 4" Grn Pumpkin trickworm and it wasnt to long and I hooked in to a nice solid 3.5 pounder off a brush pile. We fished about 12 more brush piles without another hit. We moved on to another creek and went to the last secondary and started working jigs. I had on a 7/16 oz Omega Jig (Chobee) color tiped with a brown Yamamoto craw and started working it slow with a light hop along a channel bank next to a secondary point. About the 10th cast I hook up with another 2.5 pounder. We went on down the bank another 20ft and my buddy which is also throwing a 7/16 oz Omega Jig (Chobee) color, hooks up. This fish wasn't coming up at all. A couple sec later a toad jumps up and we went crazy, a 6.5 pounder. That just topped off the day. We ended up staying in that creek for the rest of the day and boated another 5 keepers. By then the tempature is dropping and we are calling it a day. We had a wonderful cold day on the water with 9 keepers total and a few crappie. Not bad for the first time out. I also want to thank Omega Custom Tackle, Mertens Bait and Tackle and The Rod Glove for taking care of us on the water. I wish everyone good luck in 2011
